The members of the United States Embassy in Riga, Latvia, recently met with the United States Ambassador Christopher Robinson at Rezekne. They also discussed ways to strengthen their relationships and looked forward to collaborating in several areas.
The Members of the United States Embassy in Riga, Latvia, recently visited Rēzekne to develop further economic cooperation, educational partnerships, and people-to-people connections. The Embassy members were also pleased to meet with the United States Ambassador, Christopher Robinson.
As per the Updates, during the visit, United States Ambassador Robinson met with Rēzekne Municipal District Mayor Monvīds Švarcs to learn more about economic trends in the region.
The Ambassador also visited Verems, a veneer sheet and wood panel manufacturer growing its business by exporting to the United States. Ambassador Robinson extended his pleasure and thanked executives for donating a share of the company’s revenue to Ukrainian organizations.
The Public Diplomacy Section colleagues from the United States Embassy in Riga, Latvia, enjoyed a productive visit to Rēzeknes Tehnoloģiju akadēmija to discuss opportunities to grow their educational partnerships.
Later, the Embassy members toured the amazing Latgales vēstniecība GORS, where they welcomed past participants of government exchange programs and Embassy partners.
The Embassy members also enjoyed meeting with two #Fulbright English Teaching Assistants who are supporting English learning in area high schools.
One of the highlights in Rēzekne was joining U.S. Army and Zemessardze medics at the annual Green Class (Zaļā Klase) outdoor school, which drew about 1,700 youth from all over the Latgale region. The American and Latvian service members explained their medical training and offered youth participants a chance to test their equipment.
