The United States Embassy in Riga, Latvia, in collaboration with the Marta Center, hosted the three days Volunteer training campaign called ‘Courage to Act’ from Tuesday, July 25, 2023, to Thursday, July 27, 2023, for the Young people and others to encounter various issues stereotypes, discrimination and violence every day.
The Three days Training campaign ‘Courage to Act’ from Tuesday, July 25, 2023, to Thursday, July 27, 2023, took place in Rezekne at the Marta Center.
The Marta is a platform for young people, which includes Creative cooperation, interested and open young people to get to know themselves and others, and the world where they encounter a lot of stereotypes, discrimination and violence every day.
As per organisation Marta, the ‘Courage to Act’ training agenda encountered several matters, including recognition of gender and gender differences, recognition of different forms of violence, and community responsibility in creating, promoting and eliminating stereotypes and discrimination.
Reportedly, The Marta is answerable to its people on the matters like How is sexual identity different from sexual orientation? What is the responsibility of the media and social networks in building an inclusive society? What are the marketing tricks that push stereotypes? And experiences gained in childhood and family learned behaviour patterns affect personality development, choices and relationships with other people later on?
They also broke the tiers of various typical and most common stereotypes, which promotes the spread of false ideas and stereotypes every time. Thus self-reflection and education of ourselves and others are important.
Marta further believes that nothing in this world is all black or white, and only by working together can we bring about positive change because discrimination and violence are a community responsibility.
The Next training campaign is scheduled to take place in Liepaja from 11 up to 13. August. “You can still apply here: go. To/CourageToAct,” Marta quoted.
