St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew addressed at Post COP28 press conference held at Royal St Kitts Hotel on December 12, 2023.
The members of St Kitts and Nevis delegation attended the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28). This presented comprehensive summary of the participation in the various forums that focused on addressing the issue of climate change.
At the press conference, not only the delegation from the country was present but also technical experts and young climate champions revealed their presence.
While addressing at the conference, the Prime Minister highlighted the reason that why addressing the climate change in important. Further, he said that this is because, the country is facing climate vulnerability.
Moreover, he added that the people of the country need to be very serious about it and need to consider it the most important part.
Notably, he casted light on the collaborators who provided financial assistance as they play an important role towards the sustainable development of the small country like St Kitts and Nevis.
The collaborators involved; Republic of China (Taiwan), Global Fund Women, UNF CCC, The Mission in Dubai. Such a partners have made the positive change possible through their support.
Further, the Prime Minister marked the sponsorship of Global partner, Republic of China (Taiwan) as recognized partnership. He even shed light that their support have also been to peak for the country. Considerably, their partnership is critically important.
Probing ahead, PM Drew indicated the importance of participating at COP28 and said that such a valuable participation has provided an aid in the capitalization of loss and damage. This will further help in the growth and development of the country. Continuing his speech, he mentioned that the action is required now as the threat has come to the lives of people.
Concluding it, he extended his thanks towards all the people present there for the participation and their presence.
