Mohammed was rated 8.8 in the Eredivisie league. He dedicated the goal to Christian Atsu, who recently died in an earthquake that occurred in Turkey on February 6.
The Ghanian Footballer, who also played for English clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle, Christian Atsu, was found dead under the debris of the house where he was living. Almost two weeks later, his agent reported that Atsu was no more.
Atsu, 31, was currently playing for Turkish club Hatayspor. He also played for Chelsea in 2013 and then moved to Newcastle in 2016. The Ghanian went missing since the earthquake occurred, which destroyed the apartment in which Atsu was living.
His club Hatayspor initially reported he was rescued “with injuries” but was confirmed dead a day later. Atsu’s family informed that he was planning to come home two days before the disaster but immediately changed the plan for unknown reasons.
President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo also paid tribute to the Ghanaian legend. While giving condolences to his family, he wrote, “On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I extend sincere condolences to his wife, children and family”.
He added, “Ghana football has lost one of its finest players and representative; he is irreplaceable. Atsu will be sorely missed and stays forever in our hearts”.
