The Consulate General of Belgium in Guangzhou, China Wim Peters and the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association held a celebration event on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, on the occasion of the exhibition, the Smurfs 65th Anniversary- FROM PAPER TO METAVERSE, at the Guangzhou Culture and Arts Center.
The event was attended by the Consulate General of Belgium in Guangzhou, Wim Peters, along with the chairman of the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association, Jin Cheng. The delegations graced the event and extended their pleasure on receiving the warm welcome.
The Consul General of Belgium in Guangzhou, Wim Peters, and the Chairman of the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association, Jin Cheng, delivered speeches and exchanged gifts. The Consulate General Peeters presented an original portrait of Jin Cheng, hand drawn by Smurfs Belgium, to thank him for contributing to cultural exchanges between Belgium and China.
The Chairman of the Guangzhou Cartoonists Association, Jin Cheng, presented his drawing, The Smurf and The Monkey King, created by the artist to celebrate the friendship between Guangzhou, the Chinese Capital of Animation and Belgium, the Kingdom of Comics!
Li Ruolan from the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism and Hu Ziying from the Guangzhou Literature and Art Alliance also attended the event. Together with Belgian Consul General Wim Peeters and Jin Cheng, they were invited to cut a Smurfy cake, provided especially for this occasion by Guangzhou Puratos Food Co. Ltd.
All guests, including official representatives of various Consulates General in Guangzhou, enjoyed the cake and Smurfy music while discovering the exposition.
Due to its massive popularity among citizens and tourists since the start of August 4, the special exhibition of the 65th anniversary of the Smurfs – from paper to metaverse, the show is extended until the end of the summer holiday, August 31.
