The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica congratulated Adicia Burton on winning the title of Miss Dominica 2023 in Roseau, Dominica. GIS Dominica said, “Congratulations, Ms Dominica 2023 – Ms Adicia Burton,” after announcing the winner.
Melissa Poponne-Skerrit, the parliamentary representative for Roseau Central Constituency, backed the contestant. She has supported Adicia Burton, a contender on The Queen, through a social media post.
In a social media post, Melissa Skerrit wished Burton luck and urged the Dominicans to support him. She also said, “Tonight is going to be fantastic. Adicia Burton, one of our lovely Queen contestants, has our complete support and encouragement. ”
“She represents Roseau Central in the Kalingo Queen competition and is a daughter of our soil, a Kalinago. She is now vying to become Dominica’s Queen. A daughter of our land and a woman of our green rivers”.
Melissa added, “Our adoration for her tonight will be as high as our mountains, and her ancestry extends as deep as our valleys! Come out and show your friends and family that you care! We are with you, Adicia! The triumph drums are at the ready”.
The contestant was congratulated by many Dominicans and people from other countries in the comment section for winning the beauty competition and becoming Miss Dominica 2023.

Adicia Burton, the third applicant, expressed earlier in an interview her desire to use activism to spread knowledge about the need for reparations for Caribbean citizens, with a special emphasis on the Indigenous people of Dominica.
Adicia, a Kalinago lady, highlighted that she recognised the colonisers’ responsibility and wished she could join a campaign calling for restitution for the Kalinago people.
