FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Argentina to play second consecutive semifinal

Argentina will play Croatia today for an opportunity to compete on the biggest platform in sport. Both sides are playing in their second straight World Cup semifinal. After 16 years, Modric and Messi will square off while representing their respective nations. 16 years have passed since their last encounter, which occurred during a friendly game. Croatia won the match by scoring three goals, while Argentina only managed two. It was Luca Modric’s professional debut.

The game will be played at the 88,966-seat Lusail Iconic Stadium, making it the ideal venue to handle the crowd as many Argentine and Croatian fans travel to see the historic encounter between two icons.

While representing Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Luca Modric frequently competed against one another. But they might not meet again after today.

Argentina Possible Lineups: E. Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Tagliafico; Fernandez, De Paul, Mac Allister; Di Maria, Messi, Alvarez

Croatia Possible Lineups: Livakovic; Juranovic, Gvardiol, Lovren, Sosa; Modric, Brozovic, Kovacic; Pasalic, Kramaric, Perisic

South American powerhouse Croatia had already defeated Brazil in the world cup quarterfinals. Neymar scored an incredible goal in extra time during the game that nearly ended Croatia’s hopes of reaching the World Cup Semifinals.

Bruno Petkovic’s equaliser in the 117th minute of play gave Croatia new life and pushed the game into penalty shootouts.

Marquinhos missed his attempt, and the ball rebounded back to him after hitting the pole, ending the penalty shootout with a score of 4-2 and sending Brazil home. Everyone who follows Football found it a surprise event because no one thought Brazil would lose after their previous performance against South Korea.

France will play Morocco on December 15 in their second straight FIFA World Cup final. Olivier Giroud kept scoring, giving France the lead over England with a great goal. Harry Kane, the team’s captain, missed the second penalty, which resulted in their elimination from the World Cup.

Four of the original 32 teams are still in play. Making history, one of them wins the FIFA World Cup 2022 at Lusail Stadium.
