South Africa: Prince Sobeyani features 6 overseas players that can add value at Bafana

South African Prince Sobeyani, who has been doing Digital Scouting for the last 12 years, shared an update today on his social media handle, informing six notable overseas-based soccer players that can add value at the Bafana and give stability in certain positions.

The six players include Thabo Cele, who plays as a midfielder for Ekstraklasa club Radomiak Radom; Kobamelo Kodisang plays as a forward for the Portuguese club Moreirense; Nkanyiso Shinga, who plays as Left back Defender; Phillipe Sandler, who plays as a centre-back for NEC Nijmegen; Keanin Ayer, who is currently playing as a midfielder for Sandefjord and Tashreeq Matthews, a midfielder for Varbergs Bois.

Prince Sobeyani highlighted, “Add these players to the current team and get the desired balance from defence to attack as these are the regular players who have been in Europe for many years. They are fit and would bring much experience to the team. He also wrote that South Africa still has players like Lebo Mothiba, Lebo Phiri, GiftLinks and Luther Singh in the picture.”

South Africa now has enough quality overseas to have an overseas-dominated team. Still, they don’t move in this direction like the other best African nations doing well. The defence, especially, is a significant worrying factor that needs much strengthening.

Reportedly, Digital scouting refers to an increasingly popular approach by multinational pharmaceutical companies to source and evaluate in-licensing opportunities.

Also, Digital Scouting is a digital approach designed to complement (and, perhaps, replace) analogue (face-to-face) scouting. It also deals with monitoring, profiling, reporting, recruiting and creating solid relationships with South African players who play for trade abroad. The three categories of these players are :

1. Overseas clubs signed players born in South Africa after turning 18.
2. Players who were born in South Africa and moved abroad with their families as kids.
3. Players who were born overseas to South African parents.
