The worst mass shooting in Swedish history kills 11

A mass shooting incident in Sweden’s school campus has killed eleven, including the suspected gunman on 4th February 2025, Tuesday.

The authorities have not revealed the exact toll of those injured but stated that the toll may rise as new reports emerge.  

The shooting took place at an adult education center in Stockholm. It was one of the most shocking incidents, as gun violence is rare in the country.

The school, where the incident took place offers classes to immigrants, for vocational training and programs in swedish for people with disabilities.  

Statement by Head of police department on Sweden’s School Shooting  

The head of the local police department, Robet Eid Forest stated that the crime site has suffered a severe damage, making it difficult for the officials to investigate and find the cause of the incident.  

According to details further shared by Robert Eid, the perpetrator acted alone, and he was not previously known to police. He further added that there were no warning signs before the attack, and a connection with terrorism was also not suspected.  

Justice Minister expresses his views on Sweden’s School Shooting  

Justice Minister, Gunnar Strommer while referring to the incident stated the event as one that has shaken Swedish society to its core.

Notably, the incident took place after most of the students had left the school following a national exam. Other students who were present in the school during the time of shooting, were evacuated from nearby buildings and other parts.  

While the investigations continue, the authorities are yet to reveal the exact cause of the incident. The investigations at the suspects’ house were also performed, but it didn’t come fruitful as authorities were not able to find any proof.  

Prime Minister Kristersson statement on Sweden School Shooting  

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also passed a statement after the incident as he stated, “Today we have witnessed brutal, deadly violence against completely innocent people.

This is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history. Many questions remain unanswered, and I cannot provide those answers either.” 

He further added that the time will come when they know what happened, and how it could occur and what motive were behind the same.
