Ukrainian Bushmaster MRAP APC supplied by Australia destroyed near Bakhmut

The Australia-provided four-wheel-drive, blast-resistant vehicle that was supplied to Ukraine was destroyed close to Bakhmut during a vicious attack launched by Russian troops active in the region. As Russian troops continue to march into the territory, the Ukrainian army surrounding Bakhmut’s situation worsens.

For the Ukrainian Ground Forces’ assistance in the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Australian government gave 90 Bushmasters to Ukraine in 2022. Four batches of the 90 vehicles were given away, with the announcements coming in April, May, July, and October.

Since the Ukrainian defence ministry has not released any information on the incident, the actual number of casualties is unknown. The bushmaster is expected to transport supplies and other essential equipment for the Ukrainian army that was destroyed by Russian troops in the Bakhmut region, as can be seen in the video tweeted by @Logka11.

The region has turned into the hot zone of the war. Wagner PMC, leading the Russian offensive, says it now controls eastern Bakhmut. Ukraine’s Zelensky fears the fall of Bakhmut will pave the way for Russians to go further into Ukraine.

The Russian army has intensified its attacks on the land to seize control of the area. Eight months have passed since the ongoing Battle of Bakhmut, which has claimed countless lives.

According to Reuters, President Zelensky asserts that Ukrainian forces, including soldiers hired by Wagner PMC, have killed more than 11000 Russian militants over the course of the previous week.

Moscow disputes the numbers provided by Ukraine, calling them false information, and asserts that since last week, Russian troops have killed more than 220 Ukrainian soldiers every day.

The Ukrainian soldiers are out of ammo in a furious battle in Bakhmut after using it all up in the conflict. President Zelensky pleaded with the west once more to deliver military supplies to Ukraine in order to protect Bakhmut from Russian assault.

Russia recently struck AFU munitions storage in the Artemivsk direction. Moreover, casualties were noted in the targeted area—another heavy loss for Ukraine.
