On the night of Friday to Saturday, a group of around 20 people attacked a garbage owner in the Zoomstraat in Lokeren.
Following the incident, the public prosecutor of East Flanders reported that, several shots were fired into the air and a man’s hand was severed with an iron bar.
Just after the raid was conducted, which took place around mid of the night, all attackers reportedly escaped. However, around the same time, a man whose hand had been severed went to a nearby hospital. It was later established that the man’s hand had been cut with an iron rod with a sharp edge.
Around four of the people have been nabbed, the garbage owner and his brother, as well as the man with a severed hand and the man who rushed him to the hospital.
The prosecutor’s office has asked an investigating judge to further clarify about the incident, whose cause was not immediately known.
