Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica shared construction updates of Cabrits Marina project. This ongoing project is one of major development work being funded through citizenship by investment program.

In May 2024 groundbreaking ceremony of this historic project was held which was graced by PM Skerrit with his esteemed presence also. It is worth noting that the construction work began in November last year. Moreover, the first phase of project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

PM Skerrit while taking to social media shared visual glimpses of the project site. He termed this project a major booster for tourism sector of Portsmouth.

Dominica’s leader on his official Facebook page posted, “We are making exciting progress on the construction of the Cabrits Marina. The project will be a major investment in Dominica’s tourism sector.”

“The world-class facility being created at Cabrits Marina will fix Dominica as a premier destination for yachting and marine tourism in Caribbean. At the same time project is bound to create huge jobs and opportunities for nearby communities”, added PM while highlighting the significance of the project.

Notably PM Skerrit along with other government representatives visited the construction site on last Friday. He expressed satisfaction over construction work which is going on in full swing.

On the other hand, besides PM, Roland Royer Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency and Parliamentary Representative for the Portsmouth Constituency Fenella Wenham Sheppard also took stock of construction during site visit.

Both officials stated that the nation is expecting a significant creation of jobs and investment opportunities once the project is completed.

Fenella Wenham Sheppard added, the project has huge potential to change destiny of Portsmouth as project is bound to attract investment and tourism boost. Similar views were expressed by Roland Royer Parliamentary Representative for the Cottage Constituency about tourism sector growth on completion of Cabrits Marina construction work.

Meanwhile netizens while reacting to Facebook post of PM Skerrit lauded government’s developmental initiative. One Facebook user Francis Hilton commented, “Some people say nothing is happening in Dominica and Dominica’s progress is halted. However, I see work on big projects is going on.”
