The government of Dominica, under the guidance of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, has taken significant steps for the development of the Roseau Enhancement Project. The island nation signed an official agreement with the head of the Saudi delegation for the project on Saturday, 14 September.
The loan amount upon which both sides have agreed is 41 million US dollars for the development of the Roseau Enhancement Project. The ceremony was held for the signing event, which was joined by both the sides and their diplomats.
The signing ceremony was shared live for the public media. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit also shared the ceremony through his official social media handle. At the gathering, the signing of the official documents was executed by the representatives of both sides.
With the official announcement, the green signal was passed for the initiation of the Roseau Enhancement Project. The project was under the tunnel for a very long time, and the government was planning to execute it in the ground.
The information and updates in relation to the progress of the project were constantly forwarded by the officials and ministers on many occasions. Recently, in a recent appearance, the Minister of Tourism also gave her statement hinting at the signing of the agreement for a new cruise facility.
As per the demand for an increasing hike in the cruising industry, the government of Dominica is looking to provide better facilities to accommodate a number of cruises and large-size ships. The current facilities are not able to fulfill the demand of the growing market.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit shared his words in the signing ceremony and said, “It is a sign of togetherness and a sign of willingness to work to help improve the lives and achieve the sustainable goals that all of us are aspiring to achieve.”
Roosevelt Skerrit also mentioned the agreement as a sign of peace. The aggrement was signed by Minister Irving McIntyre from the side of the government of Dominica and by Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, the Chief Executive Officer from Saudi Fund for Development.
Melissa Skerrit also shared her words in the event as said, “I cannot express the excitement and the joy that I feel knowing that we are about to embark on a project that will truly transform our capital.”
