Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit met with the villagers of Calibishie to share the construction plans for the new primary school to provide safe and learning atmosphere to the children. The work will be done under the China Aid Project.
The Prime Minister Skerrit is set to proceed with the planned ideas for the construction of new school, with primary focus on the playing field. He revealed that the government is looking forward to built a road within the playing field.
Noting this, if needed then they will acquire additional lands for the playing field extension. This land will be used to extend the playing field. The process will be done in accordance with the villager’s suggestions.
The leader of Dominica took to his official social media handle (Facebook) to share the update of his visit at Calibishie on Wednesday.
“I am pleased to report a positive outcome following a meeting with the villagers of Calibishie on Wednesday to address concerns about construction plans for the new primary school.
After consultation with the people of Calibishie, we will now proceed with the proposed plans for construction, ensuring the playing field is extended and that a farm access road, located behind property, is rebuilt. The Government of Dominica will move to acquire additional lands for the playing field extension”, added PM Skerrit.
The prime minister expressed his determination and will continue to exchange dialogues with the community of Calibishie.
The construction work of the schools is being undertaken under the China Aid Project for Reconstruction of Schools in Dominica after the Hurricane Maria. The commencement of the project is a result of collaboration between Dominica and China for 20 years.
Under this project, the government aims to construct schools such as Sineku, Bellevue Chopin, Tete Morne Primary Schools and Calibishie Primary School.
The citizens across the region lauded the efforts and dedication of the prime minister, who is doing this for the well-being of the nation.
