The Bulgaria Cultural Minister, Krstu Krastev, felt pleasured to honour Angela Rodel with the distinction “Contribution to Culture Development” award for remarking on her contributions to the popularization of Bulgarian culture at the short ceremony held at the Ministry of Culture on Thursday, August 3, 2023.
The Minister of Culture Krstu Krastev awarded Angela Rodel with the distinction “Contribution to Culture Development”. The institution’s prestigious award is given to Ms Rodel for her contribution to the popularization of Bulgarian culture and in connection with the translation of Georgi Gospodinov’s novel “Time Sanctuary“, for which she, together with the famous Bulgarian author, won the prestigious International Literary Award “Booker”.
Upon receiving the distinction, Mrs Rodel cordially thanked Minister Krastev with the words: “Bulgarian culture has done so much for me! “.
The short ceremony was held at the Ministry of Culture. It was a surprise for Mrs Rodel during a working meeting that she attended as Executive Director of the Fulbright – Bulgaria Commission, together with Ivan Vasiliev, Chairman of the Bilateral Bulgarian-American Commission for the Protection of the Cultural Heritage of Bulgaria to the Fulbright Commission.
During the meeting, Ms Rodel and Mr Vasilev introduced the Ministry’s management team to the organization’s activities, contributing to educational and cultural exchange between Bulgaria and the United States for 30 years.
The possibilities for cooperation and collaboration on the issues of moving cultural heritage were confirmed. Ms Rodel expressed her readiness for the Fulbright Commission to assist in increasing the capacity of Bulgarian employees in this field.
For this purpose, special training will be organized during which foreign experts will share world experience in this field, and the main focus of the training will be the activity of preserving sites that are World Cultural Heritage – their conservation and restoration.
