Recently, Slovakia handed Ukraine the first four MiG-29 / the first four fighter jets; mig-29 are already in Ukraine to counter Russian aggression that has continued since February 24, 2022. The Slovakian government made this decision to provide air superiority to Ukraine.
The first four MiG-29 fighters are safely transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The flyover was carried out by Ukrainian pilots, with the help of the Slovak Air Force, Ukrainian personnel and other components, which ensured the safety of the flyover and the necessary documentation.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence appreciates everyone involved for a great professional job. “Slovakia is on the right side, and with this gesture, Slovakia have been capitalized into modern world history, which speaks of timely help, sincere solidarity and the greatness of the nation,” said Slovak Defense Minister Yaroslav Nad and repeated that Slovakia is providing Ukraine with the equipment that they cannot repair in their conditions.
The donation of MiG-29 fighters follows the intergovernmental agreement between Slovakia and Ukraine, approved by the Slovak government.
It was later signed by the Defense Minister of Slovakia, Yaroslav Nadem, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Castran, last week (March 17, 2023 ).
In total, Slovakia transmits to Ukraine 13 Vini nohouvačiv of Soviet production and part of the zenítno-rocket complex. The first four MiG-29 combat aircraft were handed over securely to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The transfer of Soviet-made Mig-29 fighter jets was carried out with the coalition of Ukrainian and Slovak Air Force pilots, Ukrainian personnel, and other forces confirming the transfer’s safety. They completed the process of the necessary documentation.
The donation of MiG-29 fighters is in the sense of an intergovernmental agreement between Slovakia and Ukraine, which was approved by the Slovak government and subsequently signed by Minister J. Nadu and Ambassador of Ukraine M. Castran last week (17th). March 2023). Slovakia donates 13 Soviet-made fighter aircraft to Ukraine and is part of the air defence system.
