Amazon has made an announcement on Thursday about its plans to launch an online platform for Belgium “in the coming months.”
For some of the years, the consumers around Belgium have had access to Amazon in their own language through the French Amazon platform, the German platform, or the Dutch service.
By kickstarting a uniquely Belgian platform, Amazon wants to “offer great added value” locally. The exact website domain name for the Belgian webshop is still uncertain, as www.amazon.be is owned by Amazon Insurance, an agent of Baloise Insurance.
Whereas, there is almost no extra information available about Amazon’s launch, but the platform has made a promise to provide its services to Belgian customers, such that there will be customer service available in French, Dutch and English.
In Wallonia, Amazon is already an established actor in the e-commerce scene thanks to its French store. In Flanders, it may face competition from Dutch online shops bol.com and Coolblue.
