Bulgaria Ministry of Culture is organising an Exhibition marking the 140th anniversary of the birth of Sirak Skitnik, which will be presented at the National Library “St. s. Cyril and Methodius. The exposition is titled “A creator born with the Secret of Art. One hundred forty years since the birth of Sirak Skitnik”, and its official opening will be at 11 am. on June 14 in the Central Foyer of the library in the capital.

Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, while announcing about organising an exhibition to mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of Sirak Skitnik, which will be presented at the National Library “St. s. Cyril and Methodius, took their official social media handle to share some updates regarding organising an exhibition.

Sirak Skitnik is an artistic pseudonym of Panayot Todorov Hristov. He was born on October 22, 1883, in Sliven. Sirak Skitnik is the first director of Bulgarian radio.

In 2023, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Culture is celebrating 140 years since the birth of one of the most charismatic Bulgarian creative personalities between the two world wars, the poet, theatre, critic, journalist, and artist Sirak Skitnik.

As per the Update, The exhibition will feature original photographs and archival documents from the funds of the Bulgarian Historical Archive related to the personal and public life of Sirak Skitnik. Issues of the time-iconic magazines “Goldhorn”, “Artist”, “Libra”, “Hyperion”, and more will be shown., on which Sirak Skitnik collaborates and on whose pages he publishes his literary-critical and publicity articles. Among the exhibits at the exhibition, a special place is allocated to his first poetry collection, “Confessions” (1910). ), as well as the illustrated by Sirac Skitnik editions of “Bulgarian Ballads” by Teodor Trayanov, “Poems” by E. A. Po, “Across the White World” by Dimo Syarov and others. His work as an author and artist will be revealed through several art albums and reproductions from the library fund.
