A total of 155.659 individuals have been confirmed to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past twenty-four hours in Italy, while the daily toll of the infection fell from 1,97 552 as per the report of the Health Ministry. On Sunday, January 9, 2022, 157 people have succumbed to the virus.

Since the pandemic has emerged in the country, the number of deaths due to the deadly viral infection reported is 139038.

Moreover, the health ministry has processed a total of 993.201 tests, out of which 15.7 percent have confirmed the contagious mutant. The number of people who are treated in the intensive care unit due to the pandemic rose 1.595 with the admission of new 142 patients; on the other hand, the number of patients in simple beds is 15.647.

With emerging new cases in Italy, the toll of positive cases now stands at 1.943,979.

General Francesco Filiuolo, a pandemic commissioner, stressed that the situation in the country had improved since January 2021 in hospital wards. It is due to the vaccine, which is being administered to the people of the country for at least four months.

He further asserted,” The government of Italy have so far administered the booster shots against the viral infection to the 23 million people.

Schools in Italy is going to reopen on Monday, January 10, 2022, after the holidays of Christmas.

However, the students and teachers are not reaching the schools due to the fear of getting infected with the COVID-19. According to the Italian high school teachers, the absences of a total of educational and administrative teachers may reach 10 percent.

Further, Education Minister Patricio Bianchi asserted,” Our schools will reopen as it is a matter of principle. I am urging the families of the students and teachers to get fully vaccinated by taking the WHO-approved vaccine against the viral illness, as we want more presence of teachers and students in the schools.
