The British Embassy in Brussels is delighted by the European Government’s announcement about the Current Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or the UK European Health Insurance (EHIC) for its visitors. People planning to Belgium or any European Country can enjoy some necessities using these cards.

As per the Update, Earlier Yesterday, Thursday, July 27, 2023, the British Embassy in Brussels, Belgium, announced to provide visitors with the facilities of Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) or the UK European Health Insurance (EHIC). These cards will enable the visitors to access medically necessary healthcare when visiting an EU country.

As per the information, Those travelling with a health condition must travel with enough medication to last their trip. If visitors run out of medicine whilst, on holiday, they can use their EHIC or GHIC to visit a local clinic or hospital and request a locally issued prescription.

The Embassy also urged the people to Remember that the EHIC or GHIC is not a substitute for travel insurance, and one should always travel with both. That’s because EHIC and GHIC may not cover the people for the entire treatment cost, and there are some things that the EHIC or GHIC won’t cover them for, like mountain rescue or medical repatriation. They should also check if one needs specialised insurance to participate in technical sports such as mountaineering.

“If you need treatment whilst abroad but still need to get your EHIC or GHIC with you, the process to prove your eligibility for health coverage may be delayed. You must apply for a temporary replacement certificate by contacting NHSBSA at https://shorturl.at/muzCG,” Embassy further shared.
