Oslo, Norway: The Philippines Embassy and the Philipino community in Oslo, The Capital of Norway, organized and attended two highly-successful events that kick-started the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence’s 75th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations between the Philippines and Norway Last Saturday, June 3, 2023.

The Philippines Embassy in Norway took to their official social media handle to share updates on the success and effective run of the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence’s 75th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations between the Philippines and Norway organized by the Philippines Embassy and Filipino Community in Oslo on Last Saturday, June 3, 2023.

As per the Update, Filipinos and their families supported the Fiesta Filipino 2023 at the Youngstorget and the Kalayaan Gala Night at Clarion Hotel The Hub.

The Fiesta Filipino 2023 started with a parade along Karl Johans gate and featured a Holy Mass, the Smak av Filippinene food festival and the Awit ng Lahi singing competition, where Raechelle Mae Faelnar bested four other singers for the top prize. Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre graced the occasion and mingled with the Filipino community.

Meanwhile, the Kalayaan Gala Night included the Binibining Kalayaan 2023, where Davao-born Yvonne Ortega from Trondheim won the crown over six other contestants. Also present during the event was Ullensaker Mayor Eyvind Jørgensen Schumacher, one of the Binibining Kalayaan 2023 judges. Embassy Cultural Officer Ellenor Tolentino and her spouse Melchor Tolentino were also convicted as Best Dressed.

Further, the Embassy shared that it was a long but very productive and enjoyable day. They also expressed their happiness and were glad to contribute their full support to these events celebrating milestone years the two milestone events.
