The St. Kitts Tourism Authority has implemented a comprehensive marketing plan whose primary objective is to strengthen the destination’s position to drive intra-regional travel to the Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis.
To culminate the inaugural flight celebrations of interCaribbean Airways to and from St. Kitts and Barbados, the Authority, in conjunction with interCaribbean and Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc (BTMI), hosted a promotion event at the Hilton Barbados Resort.
This event provided ample opportunity to market and promote the Federation to various travel advisors, tour operators, and media.
With the introduction of this new service, St. Kitts’ Minister of Tourism, Marsha T. Henderson, shared that “reestablishing strong regional connectivity is paramount to the success of tourism markets across the Caribbean.”
St. Kitts is now more accessible than ever before as a result of new airlift possibilities. Also, it makes it faster and more comfortable for Barbados and other nearby Caribbean islands to link easily and immediately to the twin island federation.
During the promotional event, Marsha T. Henderson, the tourism minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, stated, “This additional airlift boosts intra-regional travel just in time for our “Summer of Fun” festivities. St. Kitts welcomes visitors with a friendly local populace, delectable cuisine, and authentic Caribbean culture.
She further added, “Visitation from around the Caribbean is an essential aspect of our economic recovery and progress, and this additional boost will accelerate the intraregional travel”.
Inter Caribbean Airlines recently flew to St. Kitts for the first time, and the Tourism Authority of St. Kitts and Nevis recently conducted a welcoming ceremony to celebrate the expansion of the twin-island destination to the airline’s network. Terrance Drew, the prime minister, participated in the inauguration celebration and finished the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Along with greeting them on their first visit to the twin island federation, he also met with the crew of the first inter-Carribean flight to land at Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport. During touchdown, a water salute was also given to the aircraft.
Keeping up with the stats, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ministry of Tourism and their partners continue to work in the best interest of the Federation as they continue to chart a recovery course. In January 2023, air arrivals totalled 9,548 passengers, an increase of 75% compared to figures in 2022, which registered 5,469 passengers.
Similarly, the cruise sector continues to show positive signs of recovery. In the same period, 150,175 passengers came to our shores compared to 46,513 passengers who visited in January 2022, an increase of 223%.
