As per the United Nations, the meaning of Climate change is that which transforms temperatures and weather patterns for a longer period. The modification might be natural, which includes some variations in the solar cycle. However, since the 1800s, the activities of humans have surged and become the main driver of climate change, mainly due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.
The main consequences of burning fossil fuels are the emissions of greenhouse gases that further make blankets wrapped around the Earth trap the sun and raise the temperatures.
The change in Climate poses a significant threat to the place, species, and even people’s livelihoods.
In the 20th century, the Climate witnessed massive transformation as the cases of deforestation set a record; pollution was at its peak, and people were so careless about the environment.
Technology is a must for development, but its impact is proved hazardous for the environment, which is the basis for every being’s survival. We as human beings are developing from the old technological world to the modern technological world.

Who is Albatross?
Albatross is known as very large seabirds primarily found in the Southern Hemisphere. The bird is well-known for being the world’s most reliably monogamous creature.
The species is an extraordinary large seabird, containing around 11 feet wingspan across its body. The bird with having a majestic glider has the potential to stay aloft for hours at one time, even without flapping its wings. In particular, it can remain almost entirely at sear, typically coming ashore only to breed.
The poem referred to as the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, written by Samuel Taylor Coleridge in 1798, mentioned that mariner killed an Albatross while following the ship and further led to the death of all crew members. So, the bird was hanged to death as a punishment with the mariner’s neck; however, he remains alive to witness the ship’s fate unfold.
The poem refers to the importance of the Albatross as a sea bird and for the environment in which we are living.
In another magnificent factor of the species, Albatross can spend a year or more at sea only with flying or witching setting foot on land. The reason behind it is the fear of being attacked by the sharks, so that’s why they barely touch down their feet on the ground.
Albatross is crowned for being monogamous, which forms a long term bond with their respective partners. Moreover, it has also been provided that their bonds with their partners are rarely broken, and they have also been said to have the lowest rate of divorce compared to any other bird. Further, when they die, only then do their mated pairs virtually split.
How does Climate change increase the divorce rate among Albatrosses?
According to the writings of Jane Austen in the opening lines of “Pride and Prejudice,” A single man who wants to have good fate must be in the absence of a wife”. It is a truth universally recognised.
The phrase would have changed its meaning since the early 19th century, but somehow, it seems that it still holds significance for Albatross.
Albatross, ironically known as the most reliably monogamous creatures, are often facing divorce among their species, which is due to the massive Climate change.
As per the researchers, Climate change is to be blamed for the divorce among the species. Climate change, such as warming water, has totally disturbed the life of Albatross and their good fate.
There was a study published in Proceeding of the Royal Society B, which has given evidence that there was a massive impact of the environmental conditions on the longevity of relationships among Albatross species.
As per the study, the changes in the conditions of the environment have become the reason behind the splits between black-browed Albatrosses primarily found in the South Atlantic. It is noted that the species are known as monogamous, which means to have long-term relationships.
The researchers wanted to know the real reason behind the divorce, and they further collected data on their breeding behaviours starting in 2003 from New Island, Falklands, where around 15,500 pairs of Albatrosses lived.
It was also published that the divorce rate among the population varied with the varying conditions of the environment, which refers to the directly modulated by temporal environmental variability. It means the divorce become higher in the lower quality years.
The study shows,” The evidence suggested that the prevailing environmental conditions lead to the divorce in a long-lived monogamous population”.
It says all the modelling techniques adopted consistently show that “divorce” is triggered by breeding failure, “but, crucially, that it is also promoted by environmental harshness”.
The researchers explained that divorce is further triggered by breeding failure, particularly for females who have to find new patterns to attain a higher breeding success, but the significant reason behind it is the harshness of the climate conditions.
Climate change, such as warmer water, leads to the declination of the population among fish, which further increase the time of birds to spend with their partners, and they also have to travel farther to feed. The harsher conditions also affect the levels of the hormone of the birds and lead to the lower survival rate of the chicks.
Albatross was quite often lived 50 to 60 years, but now the study suggested the danger of the species, and the 2018 study also found 22 species of the bird and witnessed around 18 declines.
So, Climate changes are taking the lives of species such as Albatross, but Humans thought they were not affected by the conditions. This is a great misunderstanding that the environment will not make any changes to the lives of humans, but the destruction of lives of the humans could be due to the worst condition of the environment.
