German Embassy in Dhaka commemorated the 50th anniversary of Germany’s Federal Republic and the German Democratic Republic Joining the United Nations (UN) on Monday, September 18, 2023.

The Embassy reflected on its long term relations and commitment between Germany and the United Nations. They highlighted that the German Embassy is a steadfast ally of the UN, championing an international order rooted in the UN Charter and international law.

As per the German Embassy, unified Germany has taken on ever-increasing responsibilities within the UN over the past decades. They extended their pride and shared about Germany holding the position of the second-largest contributor to the entire UN system and ranked second in bilateral humanitarian aid donations.

Germany has made its mark in the UN Security Council and the UN Human Rights Council, boasting a rich history of participation in multiple UN peace missions.

The Embassy remarked, “Our nation is home to the UN Campus in Bonn, a critical hub shaping the world’s future, and the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg.”

Further, they also shared a Fun fact: Did you know Germany hosts 33 UN institutions, employing around 1000 dedicated individuals? Urging people to continue building a better world together with the United Nations.

Notably, Germany and the United Nations have shared a deep sense of Integrity and Bilateral relationships over the past few decades. The nation has also significantly contributed to the UN and its members. These remarkable contributions have impacted the United Nations and its fellow member nations.

There have been particular areas and aspects demonstrating Germany’s contributions and efforts to the UN, such as;- UN Budget, Humanitarian Assistance, Food Security, Development Assistance, Human Rights, Peace Keeping, Global Health and Home to the UN, etc.
