“It is often said that the war has taken away a year of life from us Ukrainians. In that case, we can say she probably took a year of healthy, whole food from our children”, says Olena Zelenska.
She reported that just on the eve of the invasion, Ukraine launched school nutrition reform to feed healthy and high-quality at the same time.
Not only did her foundation change the norms, but they started to update school food blocks, teach cooks, and seek to create a culture of healthy eating through school to bring knowledge about proper food to children and their families.
While addressing, Olena stressed that if it weren’t for the Russian attack, Ukraine probably would have already talked about achievements, growth and change today.
But despite the war, the reform returns. Today, together with representatives of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the State Production and Consumer Service, the Ministry of Recovery, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, other government institutions, NGOs, international donors – took part in a strategic session on preparing a strategy for school nutrition reform.
Ukraine’s first lady revealed that her foundation started working on this strategy last January, but the attack interrupted work, but now they continue. During the strategic session, four areas of further work were presented.
She noted that We are inspired and inspired by our teachers and students who, despite fire and danger, started and continued the school year. Olena said, “When a child learns – she at least partially returns to normal life, communication, plans, and confidence. When children learn – has a perspective already the whole country because this is how its future is built”.
Olena also noted that their students and teachers are real heroes and their future. Nutrition is highly dependent not only on the quality of training but also on the psychological state of all its participants.
