Islamabad, Pakistan: Pakistan leader Imran Khan party leader Fawad Chaudhry was arrested on Wednesday from his home. The arrest occurred soon after Fawad Chaudhry publicly denounced the Pakistan government for attempting to detain the former prime minister and leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan.

The police reportedly arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Fawad Chaudhry in Lahore in the wee hours of Wednesday. As per Party Leader Farrukh Habib, Chaudhry was taken into custody from his home.

A complaint was lodged at Islamabad’s Kohsar Police Station that charged Chaudhry with violating sections 153-A (inciting hostility between groups), 506 (intimidating a person), 505 (making statements that cause public disruption) and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Hundreds of PTI members and Chaudhry had assembled in front of Imran Khan’s Zaman Park house in Lahore, asserting that they were there to prevent any move by the government to apprehend the party head.

PTI’s official Twitter account posted a video which depicts a convoy of police vehicles which the party claimed was carrying Chaudhary after his arrest.

Several other PTI leaders have strongly denounced Chaudhry’s arrest, with PTI Sindh president Ali Haider Zaidi declaring that Pakistan has become a lawless nation.

He expressed his extreme disapproval of the detention of @fawadchaudhry by the Pakistan-run administration, claiming that it has become a nation with no regard for the law, due to its legislators and law enforcement officers who are solely intent on sending the country into chaos.

PTI leaders and workers collaborated and gathered outside the house of Imran Khan in Lahore’s Zaman Park as rumours of an approaching arrest of former Pakistan PM circulated in the early hours of Wednesday.

One more PTI leader, Asad Umar, took to Twitter and requested party leaders to gather at Zaman Park. “It is said that the puppet government has plans to take action against Imran Khan, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, tonight. Political party supporters are gathering at Zaman Park to guard their leader,” said on Twitter.

PTI supporters also raised slogans in order to support former Prime Minister Imran Khan, even if they put their own life at risk.
